Bon Jovi v Sting Christmas Songs (w/ Rikki Meece)
What’s up, dudes? Rikki Meece from the Sleigh Bells and Mistletoe Podcast and I broke down two songs from the A Very Special Christmas album! Yep, it’s Bon Jovi v Sting in the Thunderdome! We talk their catalogue, their Christmas music, their look and sound, and definitely their lyrics! In other words, we get into it all! Two songs enter, one song leaves!
Bon Jovi is an American arena rock/glam rock band known for bridging the gap between glam rock and pop. Their catchy melodies and tight harmonies helped them sell millions of records and top the charts. The band subsequently contributed the Clarence Carter cover “Back Door Santa” to the 1987 A Very Special Christmas charity fundraising album.
Sting is an English musician and actor and the former frontman for the rock band the Police from 1977-86. He’s known for including elements of rock, jazz, reggae, classical, new age, and worldbeat in his music. Basically he’s king of music. Of course, his rendition of the Basque carol “Gabriel’s Message” was included on A Very Special Christmas.
Synths? Check. Tenor vox? Yup. Basque carols in a madrigal style? Definitely! So spray your hair up, grab your mic, and sing along with this battle-ridiculous episode! It’s Bon Jovi v Sting!
